#SexCrimesTeacher wanted on charges of child pornography. shot and killed himself in Nashville

Federal authorities on Wednesday said they still are interviewing witnesses and victims after the suicide of a Palm Beach County teacher wanted on charges of child pornography.

Corey Dejuan Perry,33

Corey Dejuan Perry, 33, shot and killed himself in a Nashville, Tenn., hotel room last week as FBI agents approached, according to FBI Special Agent Michael Leverock.

Perry was a teacher at H.L. Watkins Middle School in Palm Beach Gardens, and the target of a federal arrest warrant for the production of child pornography, receipt of child pornography and enticement. The school district suspended Perry when the allegations surfaced, officials said.

Schools Superintendent Robert Avossa said items seized during a search of Perry’s home indicated that some students appeared to be among his victims. Authorities have identified several of Perry’s victims and still are conducting interviews, Leverock said Wednesday.

Before authorities found Perry in Nashville, they found his abandoned rental vehicle in Fort Lauderdale on April 7 with the doors unlocked and the keys still in the ignition.

The FBI had offered a reward of $25,000 for information leading to Perry’s arrest. The agency received several tips, but is not issuing a reward. The FBI declined to say how it tracked down Perry, only saying that authorities used “sophisticated investigative techniques.”

Authorities also still are looking into whether he received any help while he was a fugitive, Leverock said.

Authorities ask parents who think their children may be a victim to contact the FBI at 754-703-2000 or call the nearest police agency.
