Walking on Chicago : 19 year old was shot to death on the sidewalk

A man was shot in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side Tuesday night. 

The 19-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 12100 block of South Emerald about 9:55 p.m. when another male walked up and shot him in the upper right shoulder, police said. 

He took himself to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, where his condition had stabilized, police said.

A 19-year-old man was killed and five other men were wounded Tuesday in shootings on the West and South sides.

About 9:25 a.m., a man was riding a bicycle in the 1500 block of North Lockwood Avenue when he was approached by two people who opened fire in his direction, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

The man was struck multiple times in the torso. He was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Estrada said. The victim was identified as Cashes McCree of the 900 block of North Lockwood Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

No one was in custody, and police were investigating.

The most recent shooting was at 9:50 p.m., when a 19-year-old man was shot in West Pullman. He was outside in the 12100 block of South Emerald Avenue when someone came up and shot him in the upper right shoulder. He got himself to MetroSouth Medical Center and his condition was stabilized.

At 8:35 p.m., a shooting left a 29-year-old man wounded in Austin, police said. He walked into West Suburban Medical Center with a leg wound. Additional details about that shooting, which happened in the 5900 block of West Augusta Boulevard, weren't immediately available.

Someone shot a 19-year-old in the back about 8:05 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 66th Place in the Woodlawn neighborhood, police said. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a wound to his back and his condition had been stabilized, police said. He was outside arguing with someone when someone shot him, police said.

In the Austin neighborhood about 3:10 p.m., someone shot a man after a fight. The shooting happened near Laramie Avenue and Ferdinand Street. The 22-year-old man shot was dropped off at West Suburban Medical Center with gunshot wounds and then transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Earlier, about 11:45 a.m., a 29-year-old man was shot in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. That happened near the 1000 block of West Garfield Boulevard, north of the boulevard, and the man was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said. Police are questioning at least two people who may have been involved in the shooting.
