Hollywood Gossip : Angelina's family

Angelina Jolie is now a respected actress, humanitarian and Brad Pittbaby mama. But when the Girl, Interrupted star first appeared on the scene wearing Billy Bob Thornton's blood in a vile and passionately kissing her brother, the world didn't know what to make of the tattooed chick with the bee-stung lips.

Angelina had earned a reputation as one of Hollywood's party girls before radically changing up her act, focusing on her career, adopting children–a lot of children–and single-handedly trying to save the world.

The daughter of Jon Voight, Angelina Jolie seemed like just another lucky Hollywood kid with connections. After her breakout performance in Girl, Interrupted, however, Jolie became a force to be reckoned with. Jolie's part in the film earned her an Academy Award, Golden Globe and a SAG Award.

As her superstar stock rose, Angelina became the third actress to join the $20 Million Club, getting paid the enormous sum for her role in Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005.

Jolie's salary wasn't what drew attention to Mr. & Mrs. Smith, however. Her rumored romance with then-married costar Brad Pitt sparked a media firestorm. Angelina denied rumors that she was romantically involved withJennifer Aniston's husband at the time, but many still blame the Original Sin star for their split.

By 2006, Mr. & Mrs. Smith confirmed their relationship and Brangelina announced they were expecting their first child together, Shiloh. Brad and Angie have since expanded their brood. By the time they announced their engagement in 2012, they had a gaggle of three adopted and three biological children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

As of November 2012, Brad and Angelina had no firm wedding date. The couple has said in the past that they will not get married until same-sex marriage is legal.

Angelina Jolie's interest in global humanitarianism began while The Bone Collector was in Cambodia filming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2000.

The following year, Jolie was named a UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador, a position she held for more than a decade. Often accompanied by Brad Pitt and a few of their children, Angelina Jolie travels to impoverished countries, sometimes while they are at war, and coordinates large-scale efforts to help underprivileged citizens.

For her efforts, the United Nations Correspondents Association granted Angelina the Citizen of the World Award in 2003, the first time such award ever given. In 2012, the United Nations appointed Angelina Jolie as Special Envoy of UNHCR, proving her to be an actress with formidable skill and A Mighty Heart.
