Actor Robert Loggia dies aged 85.

The Oscar-nominated actor Robert Loggia has died in his Los Angeles home at the age of 85, his wife says.
Robert Loggia, who played drug lords and mobsters and danced with Tom Hanks in the film Big, has died, his wife, Aubrey Loggia, has said.
She said Loggia died on Friday at his home in Los Angeles, five years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 85.

Loggia, an Italian American, was born on Staten Island on January 3, 1930, the son of Beniamino Loggia, a shoemaker born in Palma di MontechiaroAgrigentoSicily, and Elena Blandino, a homemaker born in VittoriaRagusa, Sicily. He graduated from New Dorp High School. After studying at Wagner College and journalism at theUniversity of Missouri (class of 1951) and serving in the U.S. Army, he began a long career as a supporting player.
