UK : Tube services resume after strike

Tube services resume after strike.

Services are set to resume on the Tube, a day after strike action shut down the entire London Underground (LU) network.

The capital was plunged into travel chaos on Thursday, with a marked increase in commuters using Overground, bus and boat services.

LU managing director Mike Brown said "normal service" would resume on Friday morning.

First Great Western Trains into London are still affected as a separate 48-hour strike action continues.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union congratulated members who had participated in the Tube strike over pay and night services.

In a statement, general secretary Mick Cash said it was "time for serious and mature negotiations which address the issues at the heart of this dispute".

"The ball is now in firmly in LU's court," he added.

Mr Brown said LU was "working hard" to resolve the dispute.

Underground trains were scheduled to begin operation from 05:00 BST on Friday.

LU previously said it could not rule out possible disruption during the morning rush hour as services began to restart.

Commuters have been advised to check Transport for London's Twitter feed and website for news of possible further delays before travelling.
